EPIC’s Privacy Camp panel will focus on the role of Algorithmic Impact Assessments in regulating AI and protecting people from algorithmic harm. Panelists will dive into the types of Assessments that have been deployed worldwide, what value they can bring to systems of oversight, and the potential risks posed by relying on assessments to combat unique harms semi- automated states create.
A good outcome for the panel for attendees to be introduced to algorithmic impact assessments, to learn what can make these assessments effective, to consider the implications of requiring assessments for public and private use, and to think about how assessments can fit into the broader efforts to regulate AI.
- Moderator: Gianclaudio Malgieri, Associate Professor at the EDHEC Business School
Speakers:
- Dr. Gabriela Zanfir-Fortuna, Senior Counsel of Global Privacy at Future of Privacy Forum
- Heleen Louise Janssen, Researcher at IVIR Institute for Information Law at the University of Amsterdam
