We have news about the 2025 edition of Privacy Camp
As many of you know, 2024 was the year of many elections worldwide and in Europe. People in Europe went to vote for new Members of the European Parliament, who effectively started their activity in September 2024. In November, they approved a new College of Commissioners proposed by Commissioner President Ursula von der Leyen, elected for her second term.
For EDRi, the lead co-organiser of Privacy Camp, the end of 2024 was a key moment. As a leading digital rights advocacy network in Europe, we worked to welcome the new leadership with an agenda for how should tech work for people, democracy, and the planet. In effect, we co-organise with over 40 civil society organisations the Tech and Society Summit, as a platform to share our demands and open a dialogue.
In order to reach the desired impact for the event, the work behind the Tech and Society summit was strenuous for our team. The communication team is currently looking to recruit a new colleague and the recruitment transition is taking time to finalise. EDRi also wants to double down its commitment to fostering inclusion, safety and dialogue within the Privacy Camp community, work that comes with heavier workload and responsibilities.
For these reasons, we decided to hold Privacy Camp on 30 September 2025, instead of January 2025. For the first half of the year, the Privacy Camp team will be active in ongoing events such as CPDP in May.
We hope to convene a forum at a strategic time, and in a community-led way, with enough space for imagination, strategising and knowledge – sharing.
